How to setup & configure Windows Live Writer for Blogger/Blogspot blog in Windows 7 for publishing contents to blog?

Writing and publishing blogger contents through Blogger's build in editors, is not convenient most of the time as this does not provide much flexibility to write own styled contents and formats like Microsoft Word or Open Office. But the alternate and very flexible solution is to use Windows Live Writer for any type of blogging. Using Windows Live Writer, any blogger of Blogspot can easily write, edit and publish there blog's contents and articles like Microsoft Word program. But we need to configure Windows Live Writer, before using this with Blogspot blog. This page explains the technique to setup and configure Windows Live Writer for Blogger blog.

 

Step 1: Downloading Windows Live Writer

Download Windows Live Writer from the official site or Microsoft. I personally recommend you, to download Windows Live Writer form that official website as this is always updated and bug free. The official download link of Windows Live Writer is the following:

Step 2: Installing Windows Live Writer

After completing download, install Windows Live Writer on your computer. When you have completed installing Windows Live Writer, follow the following step.

[a] Start Windows Live Writer program from your Windows 7 computer. To do so, click on the Windows 7 start menu and choose All Programs > Windows Live > Windows Live Writer and just click on Windows Live Writer.

[b] Now, the configuration window of Windows Live Writer will be appeared. To start configuring Windows Live Writer on your Windows 7 computer for your blogger blog, click on Next button form the window Configure Windows Live Writer.

[c] Now, we need to select the blog service that we are using. Windows Live Writer now ask us the blog service that we would like to use by providing several options. Remember, we would like to setup our blogger blog for publishing contents. So, we are using Blogger blog service. So, from the Windows Live Writer's option, we have to choose Other blog service Blogger, Wordpress, TypePad, all others and click on Next button to go the next step of Windows Live Writer setup for the blogger blog.

[d] In this step, we have to add our blogger account which we would like to setup Windows Live Writer. Moreover, we have to put the Username and Password for that blog to configure Windows Live Writer.
For example, we would like to setup Windows Live Writer for the blogger blog http://www.hidemytips.blogspot.com and The username and password of that blog is like "hideMyTips"and "abc123456789". So, for this setup, we have to type the following information like the figure:

After putting all the information of the fields Web address of your blog, Username and Password, we have to click on Next button.

Now, we have to wait some seconds as Widows Live Writer will take some time to complete setup and we will see various windows coming up on your screen.
Widows Live Writer may ask you to Create a Temporary Post by asking you the question: Would you like to allow Writer to detect the theme of your blog by publishing a temporary post? The post will be removed immediately. Allowing this will let you see what your posts will look like online while you are editing. Just choose Yes to do that. However, you may skip this step by choosing No. My personal recommendation is to choose Yes as this fully synchronized the them of the live blogger blog. After this, just wait a few seconds.

[e] At last, a final window will be appeared which shows that the blog has been set up. Click on Finish button to complete the setup of Windows Live Writer for your blogger blog.

And that's all. After completing the setup, the outlook of Windows Live Writer will be like the followings. Just start blogging now and see how easy it is. Just write your own content, add styled texts, change the article texts formats with their size & color, add photos, add emotions, add effects, add maps etc. according to your dream and just publish the articles using the Publish button.
